About Us
The word BIRYANI (or briyani as locals call it) comes from the Persian word "BIRIYANI" which mean 'Fried before cooking'. The history of briyani dates back to the "Mughal" Era in the Indian Sub Continent where it was brought by King Taimur lung from Central Asia in 1398 AD.
Since then, briyani has evolved globally and currently more than thirty varieties are cooked all over the world, notable amongst them are the Indian, Arab, Persian and Pakistani styles of briyani.
Same goes with Malaysia, there are many versions of briyani being cooked and served here from 'Briyani Mama' to 'Briyani Gum'. But until opening of 'The Briyani', there was not even a single restaurant in Malaysia serving briyani in the original form.
Keeping this in mind, 'The Briyani' restaurant was opened on October 7, 2008 to serve the original and authentic briyani. To meet this end, 8 different herbs and spices were imported from different parts of the world along with specialized cooks who were masters in the arts of the original briyani.
Few characteristics of the original briyani are its unique aroma, its savory but not spicy taste, its non sticky rice and its 'Dum' or slow cooking style. 'The Briyani' can proudly claim that its briyani fulfills all these criteria bringing it as much close to the original briyani as possible. Furthermore, unlike normal trends in Malaysia, briyani at 'The Briyani' is served with Raita, Dalca and Salad and not with curry, to have the most authentic briyani experience.
Whole Lamb Roast is served together with rice, yogurt chutni, salad. Rice is cooked inside the whole lamb, while being roasted
A recent addition to the portfolio is the Barbeque Range on weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sundays). This includes Chicken Tikka, Chicken Malai Boti and Beef Kebab
'The Briyani' restaurant is located in the heart of Subang Jaya and USJ in the prestigious Taipan Commercial Area. This makes it the top choice for daily lunch for the scores of office and shop workers in the vicinity who can simply walk-in from their work places. Just 5 minutes drive from the popular Sunway Resort, 'The Briyani' is a cool hang out place for students and faculty from the Sunway, Monash, Segi and Taylor Colleges. Just thirty minutes drive away from Kuala Lumpur and twenty minutes from Petaling Jaya, Damansara, ShahAlam and Puchong, there are many loyal customers who drive to ‘The Briyani’ from these places to savor the Original and Authentic Briyani Taste.
